About a month ago, I bought an HP Deskjet F2410 all in one printer to handle my printing needs. This issue has to deal with the Ink Cartridges running out. I went out and bought the refill kits and refilled them as instructed both on the refill kit and viewing some youtube videos on how to do it, and it fails. I've had to go out and buy new Ink Cartridges for this printer. Now, someone did suggest the Ink Cartridge's sent a signal to the printer itself saying its out of ink and locks itself and prevents further usage. I've even followed HP's online guide for refilling the Ink Cartridge's and resetting the printer, unplugging, turning off, cleaning the head with alchole, plugging back in, etc.

Does anyone have this sort of problem or issue and is there anyway around this problem? Because them Ink Cartridges can get quite expensive.

Suggestions on how to get around

Are you sure it a was a HP online guide to fill the cartridge? They don't want you to refill them, if you do a lot a of printing you should look at the kits that can be fitted to some printers that have external ink tanks. These are 3rd party products, I have seen them on some Epson printers not sure about others, you would need to do some research.

I bought the refill kits, which consist of a syringe and a bottle of Ink with a label saying HP Black Ink, and HP (specific color). I injected the ink into the printer cartridge as indicated and cleaned the head thoroughly with alcohol you can buy in any pharmacy.

The site I went to, I just checked was from HP in their Q/A section one of the questions they put up or someone asked as about resetting the Ink Cartridge in your printer. HP gave 4 different examples of troubleshooting, looking for specific lights, how to basically kick start it and so on.

I've even gone to one of the local computer shops here and asked the technician how to do a refill and demonstrated it for me.

I’m at a loss here.

I have a Cannon all in one and it simply would not function when I tried to use re-fills. As soon as I slotted in original cartridges it worked fine. Modern printers seem to be able to communicate from the printer head to other printer hardware and computer software.

I have a HP Deskjet F2410 printer also and had similar problems to the Op.

After a lot of searching on the internet I found the following reset procedure for HP Cartridge 60 which goes in the F2410.

It worked for me but obviously no guarantees. My printer is about a year old now and I am still using the original starter cartridges that came with the printer and have refilled them many times. (Note - one thing to be careful with is not to overfill the ink otherwise it will seep out of the refilled cartridge and cause problems with the wires and contacts on the back of the cartridge.)

Refill your cartridge.

Resetting the cartridge can be done as follows:

Put a piece of adhesive tape covering only the four contacts at the bottom left of the cartridge. (A contact is the individual copper square.)

Make sure that only those four are covered and no others.

With the printer turned off reinstall the cartridge in the printer and then power the printer.

Power off the printer and then take the cartridge out of the printer.

Remove the adhesive tape from the four contacts and then place the adhesive tape on the four contacts at the bottom right side of the cartridge.

With the printer turned off reinstall the cartridge in the printer and then power the printer.

Power off the printer and then take the cartridge out of the printer and remove the adhesive tape.

Reinstall the cartridge and everything should work ok except that you probably will not get ink quantity reports.

Thanks. I'll try that as soon as my ink levels get lower then now.
