First, I was surprised to find our Embassy in a business building instead of on its own grounds? I am not exactly a world travel, nor have visited any Canadian Embassies aboard but had envisioned the typical Embassy seen on so many movies J

My question is; what is the legal requirement of the embassy to Canadians abroad?

Are they (Canadian public servant) required to speak with a Canadian when requested in person rather then a thai national employee, no slight, very helpful, just language issue? I was rather put aback by the access to contact with a Canadian citizen while there and even had an employee become short with me and say she would call her supervisor if I continued to ask questions. I am a retired federal service employee so understand that when people “expect” a certain result, they can be a pain in the a--. Not the case here, just wanted clarification on a visa issue and not getting it. Maybe she was upset she didn’t know what “clarification” meant in English, I apologized and rephrased the question. I could see I had lost her interest, so beat a tactical retreat for another day thinking I could speak with a Canadian. Wrong!!!! Next day I spoke with another thai employee, wonderful helpful woman, answered everything in a very informative way and assured me that everything was in order for the visa, just wait on the sponsorship approval. Wish I had got her on day one, but still left me wondering on Canadian access to Embassy? Any help? I intend to live here in Thailand but would need to travel each year for family and until my properties sold, deal with that.

Thanks
