If this were possible it would have been posted on this board and i would assume that farangs would have tried to abuse this to the maximum by feigning disability or getting genuinely disabled folks to secure their land for them. haha Posted September 6, 2005 Share Posted September 6, 2005 you mentioned that you are 34 years old. ...is it safe to assume you want to "hangout"? if so, I suggest you just live in a hotel for a while to get a feel for where you want to "hangout". I know a lot of folks who have retired here in bangkok. and most of them prefer to stay in hotels. like one gentlemen told me, the lobby is my living room, the dining room is the hotel restaurant, and all my "friends" are downstairs. you can get a parttime maid to assist you with all the chores of buying groceries, and the such. at about 100 dollars a month, you shouldn't have any financial problem to hire one or 2 parttime maids to help you out. if you go the route of a condo, be aware of the potential problems with "balconies". some of the BTS and MTR stations have wheelchair and elevator access. I know the asoke BTS has it. if I were you and you wanted to live in Bangkok, I would try to find a condo or hotel near the asoke BTS. centralized and close to the BTS and the MTR. right off the bat, I remember seeing a low-rise condo behind the suda restaurant on sukhumvit soi 14. now that would be ideal. but I don't know how much it costs. check it out. with the BTS and the MTR no more than 150 feet away, you would be able to get to much of the city quickly without dealing with the traffic. nitelife on both sides, restaurants galore, thai language school down the block, access to at least 9 shopping malls via the BTS and the MTR. yes, this is where I would stay if I were you. but then, I'm not you. so, you need to make your own choice. ..just my 2 cents. happy memories... Can find nothing on it in my legal reports. In fact the American Embassy frequently funds NGO's to look into Thailand's discrimination with regard to the disabled, particularly regarding employment. A Brit cannot own land in Thailand, that is true 100% Other options are Company , leasing, but still the farang will not actually own the land. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi Loong, The answer is to found when investigating 'special needs' groups. Though all able bodied individuals will find it difficult NOT impossible to own land. It is not impossible for those with special needs in which this guy falls into. It will require registering with and obtaining the assistance of the NGO that deals with physically challenged people. T. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A foreign NGO is subject to the same land ownership restrictions as foreigners and foreign companies. A Thai NGO is doable; but it would involve you "donating" the money to the NGO and then hoping the NGO gives you a lease.
