Dane Needs Blood on Phuket

Danish man Johnny Boye Frendø needs blood after a traffic accident on Friday 11. February. The blood type is type O negative.

The Dane was brought to the hospital with multiple fractures, wounds and internal bleedings. His situation is in danger because he has lack of blood, writes his friend Ecco Ravesloot in the following message:

It seems the hospital has a shortage of this blood group. On the moment his situation is very critical and might die because of lack of type O negative. If you have this blood group or you know somebody please donate you might save his life. If you don t know your blood group you can test it for free.

"Blood donations can be made in Phuket at the Vachira Hospital Blood Bank on the hospital's 4th floor or through the Red Cross in Bangkok."

Vachira Phuket Hospital Address: 353 Yaowarat Rd, Taladyai. Tel:

076-361 234. Fax: 076-211 155. Hotline: 1669. Email:

Donors in Bangkok can go to any Red Cross or Hospital Blood Bank.

There is one located at Chulalongkorn University.

Please call 0810 968 429 or +66 831 802 892

I know Johnnyboy very well and just found out about his accident earlier this morning. I don't have O neg blood so I can't help. If you know anyone that can donate O neg blood then please help. Thank you.

From what I heard the injuries were thought to be caused by another vehicle running over him after he fell from his bike.

Dane in Critical Condition after Accident in Phuket

Johnny Boye Frendø from Denmark was hit by a car on Friday when bicycling between Phuket town and Patong beach. One of his friends, Ecco Ravesloot happened to be near and helped the Dane get to Vachira Phuket Hospital and later helped appeal to the international community in Thailand to find blood of the blood type 0 negative.

Vachira Phuket Hospital where Johnny Boye Frendø remains hospitalized, told ScandAsia on Monday afternoon that the 44 year old Dane’s condition remains critical as he is dependent on a respiratory machine to breathe.

The accident caused major internal injuries and bleedings and therefor the Dane still urgently needs blood. Many people in Bangkok have donated blood, but it takes time before it gets to Phuket, his frinds say.

Several have also donated blood in Phuket, but it is not enough and the hospital still incourages people with blood type 0 negative to donate blood. The closer to Phuket the donation is made, the faster it can be received by the Dane. The hospital needs six units (1 unit = 450 ml.) blood.

Close friends of Johnny Boye Frendø says that he is now conscious and can communicate writing with the left hand as his right arm and wrist is broken.

OK the weather is great for biking here, the traffic is not!!! This is ultra dangerous country in many ways! Watch out also on the motobike, a life is not worth much here!

Just wanted to go for a long bikedrive.....I rather take the car to the gym, what a pity.

Stay safe and good luck ( you need it, this is not Europe!)
