2011-02-14 18:46:11 GMT+7 (ICT)

TUNIS (BNO NEWS) -- Five people were injured on Sunday afternoon when two passenger trains collided in the Tunisian capital of Tunis, state-run media reported on Monday.

The accident involving transit company Transtu happened at about 1.26 p.m. local time on the line which connects Tunis-Marine to Kram, according to the Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) news agency.

TAP said only one of two tracks were operating at the time of the accident due to maintenance, but it is unclear how the trains ended up on the same track. A photo from the scene of the accident showed that at least one train car had derailed, while both trains sustained heavy damage.

Transtu reported that five people sustained injuries in the accident, without providing other details.
