Be Aware Of 'Fake Hull Consulate Site'

Featured Replies

Just in case it hasn't been mentioned here before, if doing a google/yahoo search for the Hull Thai Consulate be aware that in addition to the genuine Hull Consulate site which appears in the google listing as 'Welcome::Thai Consulate' and has the address www.thaiconsul-uk.com, you'll also be presented with a site claiming to be the 'Thai Consul-Thai-Consul-Hull' with the address www.thai-consulate.com which is in fact a front for Siam Legal, a commercial enterprise.

They've rather crudely taken some information from the genuine Hull Consulate site and put it on a hastily thrown together looking 'home' page. The visa tabs from this page however link directly to their own visa agency site.

For example, on the one year visa section, they're charging £274 for a £100 visa.

Quite obvious to those like myself familiar with the visa process but perhaps not so to someone new to it.

Whilst I have no objection to the use of an agent for convenience sake in some circumstances, I do object to what is quite clearly a ploy to mislead.

They don't claim to be the Thai Consulate of Hull. It is the site of a Law Firm.

No, they don't, but is is intentionally misleading. I, for one, would certainly not recommend a company who advertises like this.

Just tried your link and got this.

By using the word Hull in the text on the main page and also in the Description and Keyword meta tags they are deliberately targetting anyone searching for info about the Hull Consulate. But nothing wrong with that, makes sense to do it. They dont claim they are the Hull Consulate anywhere.

Siam Legal, a commercial enterprise. - Have heard they are dodgy as (an expensive)

Any legal company that has to ride on the back of, or hijack, a website has to be well avoided.

Yes, it's obvious they are targeting anyone searching for Hull Consulate but I disagree that it 'makes sense' to do it in this way, particularly as they are a law firm! We're splitting hairs about them claiming to be Hull Consulate - if you look at the home page of the site, it appears to be the Hull Consulate homepage and is an obvious attempt to mislead.

Agreed - that just about sums it up.
