FALLUJA, IRAQ (BNO NEWS) -- Hundreds of citizens protested in west Iraq's Falluja city on Tuesday against corruption and poor public services, Aswat al-Iraq news agency reported.

"Hundreds of Falluja citizens have demonstrated in its Maysaloun square, demanding services and rejecting the plans for division and federalism in Iraq," a source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Protesters urged the government to achieve services for the city and complained of shortages of food, water and power. The demonstration was attended by a number of tribal chieftains, intellectuals and unemployed people, whilst the city had witnessed strict security measures to protect the demonstrators.

There have been a series of similar protests across Iraq inspired by uprisings in the Middle East. On Sunday, hundreds of people in Ramadi, about 100 kilometers west of Baghdad, demanded the government to fire the Anbar Province's governor. On February 6, another demonstration in the same place called for an end to unemployment and administrative corruption in the province.

A major rally called 'Revolution of Iraqi Rage' is scheduled to be held in Baghdad on February 25.
