Hello All

Firstly we’re sorry if we have posted this in the wrong area but not too sure where to post it.

We are newbies on here and haven’t posted much but we really need some advice/input from some of the experienced members on here married to thai wives and who have made the move to live in Thailand. My name is Anthony and I am a 39 year old brit and have been married to my 33 year old thai wife Nok for 7 years. We lived in Thailand together for one year when we first met back in 2003 and decided to move to the UK (east Sussex) to build up enough cash with the plan of later moving back to Thailand.

Both our hearts are sent on living in Thailand, we are fed up with the rat race and weather here and we are trying to see how viable the move would be from a financial perspective. My wife now speaks almost fluent English so I reckon she could get a better paid job than previously but the sticking point is me. I have no degrees etc I have worked in sales for about 15 years and I have a good cv with strong track record selling all sorts from shares in the small companies market to IT software through to more recently web sites and internet marketing.

I would like to know the following;

Lets say I could get a UK company to employ me as a part time telesales resource based in Thailand calling UK business landlines for them, I say part time because of the time zone difference. I reckon I could work very cost effectively for them because of the huge cost of living difference but I need to understand whether I could do this legally and physically.

1) Should I get a business visa even though the potential employer would be based in the UK or what type of visa do you think would be best? I can’t go for the retirement visa yet because I’m not 50 and I don’t fancy the 3 monthly border crossings if I can get around it.

2) If I had to do the 3 month border hop does anyone know how much it is each time and what the total visa costs would be each year?

3) Would I have to set up a Thai company to be able to operate like this?

4) Where would I be taxed in Thailand or the UK or both?

5) Is anyone aware of thai landline telephone packages for calling UK landlines and is the service viable (clear and always available) to operate a business such as this? I think skype is too bad a reception for selling properly and would give the game away that I am overseas, correct me if I’m wrong

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. We so want to move back to Thailand so badly and aren’t worried about not having much money but having a better lifestyle. BTW we would have about 50-70k to our name which we would probably use after settled in to buy a place but start off renting.

Thanks again.

Anthony & Nok
