Actor Len Lesser, 'Seinfield's' Uncle Leo, dies at age 88

BURBANK, CALIFORNIA (BNO NEWS) -- Actor Len Lesser, probably best known for being Uncle Leo in longtime TV hit series 'Seinfield,' on Wednesday passed away at the age of 88 due to complications with pneumonia, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Lesser, of New York City, appeared in over 50 films throughout his 60-year acting career, including 1962's 'Birdman of Alcatraz' and 1973's 'Papillon,' among many others. His first television appearance was in 1955, appearing in famous shows such as 'Get Smart,' 'The Munsters,' 'The Monkees,' 'Bonanza,' 'ER,' 'Mad About You,' and most recently 'Everybody Loves Raymond,' to mention a few.

Lesser also appeared on 15 episodes of 'Seinfield,' portraying the role of Jerry's Uncle Leo. His last stage appearance was with Los Angeles' classical theater company 'A Noise Within.'

He died in Burbank, California and is survived by his daughter, Michele Lesser; his son, David Lesser; David's wife, Julie; and his grandchildren Jonathan, Kayla and Mayah.

A private funeral will be held with details of a public memorial service at 'A Noise Within' to be announced.
