Another Red Shirt Leader turned himself in, but this one is the leader of the infamous Love Chiang 51 gang and an admitted international fugitive with 20 charges pending.... still, he's released on only 100K bail this time after being on the run for 9 months:

He then greeted a number of his supporters who gathered to offer him moral support in front of the police station.

Petchawat had escaped arrest warrants issued over terrorism and other charges related to his role during the violent protests in April last year.

The leader of Love Chiang Mai 51 Group said he was facing a total of 20 charges and submitted a bail request for two cases.

Petchawat noted that he fled to a foreign country early last year when an arrest warrant was issued for him.

He decided to surrender to police and would fight the cases in court after learning about the government's plan to dissolve the House and the upcoming general election.

Police Set for Red-shirt Concert at Khao Yai

Police are set to handle the red-shirt concert in Khao Yai this Saturday although local authorities expect no chaos.

Spokesman for the Center for Administration of Peace and Order, or CAPO, Police Major-General Prawut Thavornsiri, said today's meeting discussed plans to keep peace and order at a concert planned by the red-shirt group at Bonanza Khao Yai Hotel on March 26.

CAPO expects about 20,000 to 30,000 red-shirt supporters at the event, and local police as well as those from the Region 3 Provincial Police Bureau will be responsible for security watch.

Red Shirt activity ramps up for coming elections

KHON KAEN: Red Shirt activity in Northeastern Thailand is ramping up ahead of an expected house dissolution which will pave the way for fresh elections in the coming months.

In Thailand's Isaan region, about 350 km from Bangkok, a village has declared itself an official red shirt village - with images of ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra highly visible, and crowds wearing red shirts and cheering as red leaders spoke at a local temple.

An election looks likely for the Kingdom by July. The red shirts are expected to vote en masse for the opposition Puea Thai Party, linked strongly to Mr Thaksin Shinawatra.

It was a promotional video for his Khao Yai concert. Many people upon hearing the golden voice of Thaksin sing for Manchester still have time to rush up to Khao Yai in time to hear him croon for the Red Shirts.

Lese Majeste Charges Sought against Red-shirt Leaders

The army chief has filed a lese majeste suit against a red-shirt leader for his speech on a rally stage last Sunday.

Meanwhile, the special investigation agency is preparing to file lese majeste charges and request bail withdrawal for some red-shirt leaders who are believed to have severely defamed the Monarchy when they took to the rally stage last Sunday.

The bail withdrawal request will be made with prosecutors on Monday.

Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation, or DSI, Tharit Pengdit, revealed that investigators have transcribed recorded tapes of speeches made by key leaders of the red-shirt group on the rally stage on Sunday at the Democracy Monument.

DSI investigators found that the address made by red-shirt MP from the Pheu Thai Party, Jatuporn Promphan, extremely defamed the Monarchy.

The DSI will also file lese majeste charges against other red-shirt leaders who made similar speeches.

They include Nutttawut Saikua, Weng Tojirakarn, Suporn Attawong, Korkaew Pikulthong, Kwanchai Praipana, Nisit Sinthuprai, Chinnawat Haboonpard, Wiputalaeng Pattanaphumthai, Yoswaris Chooklom, Somchai Paiboon, as well as Pasit Sakdanarong, who is the former secretary of the Constitution Court president.

On Monday, the DSI will meet prosecutors to submit a request for bail withdrawal for the red-shirt leaders for alleged violation of their bail conditions.

Tharit said he has received a phone call from Jatuporn this afternoon asking if the DSI will file a suit against him.

The DSI chief replied in the affirmative and added this is not a personal vendetta against Jatuporn but he is merely doing his duty.

Meanwhile, army chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha has ordered the military judge advocate to file a lese majeste complaint with police against red-shirt leader and Pheu Thai MPs Jatuporn Promphan and Vichien Kaokam and red-shirt leader Suporn Atthawong.

The action came in response to their speeches on the red-shirt rally stage at the Democracy Monument on Sunday.

The officer submitted a VCD and a transcript of the speeches as evidence.

Pheu Thai uneasy over Jatuporn’s remark on 10 April

BANGKOK, 13 April 2011 (NNT) – The opposition Pheu Thai Party has denied responsibility for a recent comment made by its MP Jatuporn Prompan about the monarchy while the latter is planning to sue the Army Chief for accusing him of lese majeste.

Following Mr Jatuporn’s statement regarding royal family members issued on the stage of the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) on 10 April, Pheu Thai Party Deputy Leader Plodprasop Suraswadi declared that the Party had no involvement.

Although no warning would be issued by the party to the outspoken MP for his action, the deputy leader said most of the party’s members should have felt uneasy about the issue. He stressed that the royal institution must be upheld above politics and all citizens are required to show their loyalty and respect.

Meanwhile, after his remark was considered in violation of the lese majeste law by Army Chief General Prayut Chan-O-Cha and a lawsuit is soon to be lodged against him, Mr Jatuporn threatened to file a countersuit on 17 April over false accusation.

As the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) will also petition the prosecutor to consider revoking the bail of Mr Jatuporn and other UDD members for breaking bail conditions prescribed by the Court, UDD core leader Natthawut Saikua stated that a team of lawyers would travel to the Office of the Attorney General on 18 April to oppose the bail withdrawal request. He claimed that all evidence, including photographs and footage, had been prepared.

Mr Jatuporn stated that he wishes that television host Wuttitorn ‘Woody’ Milintajinda would invite him to join his show ‘Woody Kerd Ma Kui’ (Woody Born to Talk) since he wanted to tell the truth in all dimensions regarding the unrest instigation in the UDD protest last summer.

The outspoken MP added that he would launch a book after Songkran Festival, exposing the truth about who were responsible for burning and destroying buildings in Bangkok at the end of the UDD protest last April, which he said he would also be happy to discuss in the television show.

Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn graciously granted an interview session with ‘Woody Kerd Ma Kui’ show, which was aired on 3 and 10 April 2011. One of the issues mentioned in the interview was related to political demonstration, buildings burned down in the riot and national disunity.

As for the recent speech he gave on 10 April 2011 on UDD stage, Mr Jatuporn said he would like to warn people in the government not to use the monarchy for their political gain to destroy others. He stressed that all UDD supporters loved democracy and were loyal to the royal family.
