Tosillitis In Dog ?

Featured Replies

My 10 months old German shepherd developed a lump under his neck - tennis ball size. Took him to the Vet yesterday and I was told that he has swollen tonsils?? I had dogs all my life, but never heard of this one. Vet give him antibiotic shots and said that it should clear within few days. Apparently he has tonsillitis??? Anybody heard of this???

Hi , tonsillitis does not show on the outside of the dog.

He could have an abscess or a blocked salivary gland

If it does not go down with the antibiotics then the vet should aspirate the mass with a needle and see what comes out: pussy ( abscess) just yellow stray liquid (saliva)

Hope this helps,

Mike

Thanks, but whatever it was it is getting better, much smaller this morning.I was just a bit worried, because our first puppy died from unknown reason ( vet just put him on the glucose drip and he died) and I don't want to loose this dog. He is a great dog. I wish I could find a decent vet in Klaeng in near. They seems to be just interested in money and I don't believe they know how to treat GS.The last vet admited that he has never seen one GS before.
