My Thai Language School - Mtls In Bangkok

Dear All,

Please find hereafter my experience sharing regarding the "service" of My Thai Language School - MTLS in Bangkok:

I personally experienced at first a good relationship with the My Thai Language School - MTLS (before signing the contract) and had a good first impression about the service (sounds flexible, warm welcome and clean/nice office).

However after signing the contract, things changes and my first impression turns out to be wrong on many aspects:

- First of all, the flexibility that was sold to me as part of the service (possibility to change the hour of the training), was then turned against me as a “special favor”.

- Then I felt on multiple occasions that my “file” was not properly updated and followed-up.

- Also, it tokes four months to receive a date to start the course from the time I signed the contract. For me this was unacceptable and it has never been brought to my attention that it would take so much time to receive the “service”.

- And last of all, I finally realize through the way I have been treated, that My Thai Language School - MTLS, is a business trying to make as much money as they can; more than a school trying to act in/for the interest of their students by offering a service of quality focused on teaching and not money.

That being said, I hope my case is an isolated “incident” as I wish nobody to experience what I have been through.

Therefore, I would not recommend the service of My Thai Language School - MTLS in Bangkok.

Google Thailanguagesolutions.com They will look after your needs. They will personalize a course to suit you. Talk to Pornipom. I had a very good experience with them. They will go out of their way for you, they understand that everyone is different. Sorry about your experience. Thanks for the post.

Dear All,

Thanks for your comment.

For our defense:

-We propose a schedule to Mr. “Alou” ( 1 month after he signed the contract ) which suits his first time demand and we even convince some of our students with more flexible schedule to join this class to open it for him, however his situation change and by this time, he got a job and therefore was not able to take this class anymore.

As everyone understand, it is not possible for us to open a class every month which suits perfectly his need.

  • All our students sign a contract. In this contract, it is clearly written that there will be no refund if the student gets the student visa. This is to prevent some people to apply and ask for refund as long as they get the visa, I still think it's a right way to protect our school from fraud. However, we still partially refund his course.
  • This student never attends any of our class (so he can not judge the quality of the course) so I think that it is not fair to say that we are a school just trying to make money without caring our students.

We're not responsible in any change in our student life, we just try to make our best to find a solution for him. I still wish the best for Mr. Alou in Thailand and hope he can learn Thai effeciently for his future.

Best Regards,

MTL

You know, after knowing the owners of MTLS; I can say 100% they are NOT out to steal money off foreigners. They provide a good service and a good quality of learning thai for foreigners!

Now if a person pays for "group" lessons, well maybe there will be some time lag until enough people sign up to make a "group". . Not all that crazy huh? Not every school teaches their books mindlessly over and over again! Not a single school that I know of will start a class with ONE student who paid for group lessons, yet who would be taught 1-on-1 because there are no more students in the class. .. It's just not out there in the market today! NOT even by sponsors of the forum!

That the O/P had a bad experience based on his side of the story and that MTLS had an equally bad experience based on their side of the story is NOT unique in the “learning Thai Language” sector.

MANY, many private thai language schools in Bangkok have had similar situations with students. That this ONE student posted online about his "dissatisfaction' is no surprise. You can't please everyone, everywhere!

I urge readers of this forum to GO take a FREE class at MTLS, and judge for yourself. Especially now as more 'facts' have come to light about the O/P's situation

You don't judge a book by its cover; instead you read a few pages and see if it has interest for you! It's the same for a private thai language school; you don't take the first one you stumble across, just because you get an ED visa, you scope them out FIRST. You see if they can meet your requirements as far as methodology, scheduling, etc. If they don't you discard them. .. That's just how it is. ..

To the O/P. Sorry it didn't work out for you. Try again at another school, huh?

AND BTW: I'm NOT affiliated with ANY Thai Language School!!

I just say what I think!!

Many language schools already and new ones appearing

Of course fueled by the need to obtain student visas, this is simply the reality

I have had and am still eligible for a 1 year non O mult entry visa

Improving my thai language skills is important as I live here

I was enrolled previously at one of the sukhumvit language schools (already had a visa)

Am student at MTLS currently.

Pro's; intro level thai very decent. organized, efficient, mostly logical staff, management grew up in france and apply G7 thinking to running the place, goo location very close walking to MRT and esplanade mall, carrefour, robinson, many restaurants. neighborhood is not a tourist area and you wont be bothered by all the touts trying to sell you something/someone.

Cons; I would relate cons to the widespread dilemma in teaching that exists throughout thailand, nothing to do with the school. Reading almost exclusively thai but do not personally get a lot from it simply cause the material does not relate to my personal needs in vocabulary. Doesn't matter cause at this point I have the ability to go online and research vocabulary using thai language search engines.

all of the private schools students must extend the visa every 90 days. I believe university students do not need to do this

I agree that this school don't have a good service. More like "A Visa school" They don't care if the student can speak Thai or not! Staff unprofessional. Email the student one they before the class start! How can people prepare with one day notice? What about the student in Hongkong for a holiday? At least give one week notice. The teacher does not give home work every time,How can the student practice? If you just want to have Visa and don't care about learning Thai you can go here. Im telling true! If the owner or the Friend" of the owner see it please look at your staff try to get the girl with brain to work with you!

Hello,

Thank you for your comment.

This is the first time we've heard about your case, we never got any complains about this before from our students as we notice our students at least 2 weeks before a new class start.

If you complain about this means you used to be one of our student, so please if you were not happy with our staff or the way we work we invite you to come to talk to us directly.

Moreover when you are waiting for a new class to come you normally shouldn't go for holiday, or at least you should let the school know about it, otherwise how people could contact you.

Regards,

MTL
