Semper
What kind of bike is it ?
mrclough
I'm quite sure you could get this sorted pretty much anywhere unless it's a specialist bike. Most of the main Honda Dealers & Yamaha Dealers have at least one person who speaks english most of the time and Kawasaki in town, well it seems they pretty much all speak good english down there. Failing this, if you have a thai friend that can translate for you then problem solved!!
Semper
Yes, if it's a Honda Wave or similar you can just go to any garage and point at the fuel leak. They will fix this for max. 100B. it's sounds like the floatvalve is stuck.
sticklee
I have a good, English speaking mechanic that has proved honest and knowledgeable. Canal Rd. just south of Mae Hia market , 1st shop to the north of the Bridgestone Tire dealer.
H2oDunc
Sticklee no offence to the OP intended but if he has difficulty in getting a simple fuel leak sorted do you honestly think he is able to figure out which direction is North ?
CMX
Sticklee no offence to the OP intended but if he has difficulty in getting a simple fuel leak sorted do you honestly think he is able to figure out which direction is North ? Not at all the case. We all have different "skill sets," which are related to our experiences and other learning. I might be able to fix a little fuel problem in a second, you not, but you could be a genius at theoretical mathematics and astrophysics. Might happen neither of us know north from south, and never will. Mae hia market is the thing that's got me lost.
FMFK86
thanks for replies guys. bike is standard semi automatic, i think ill just stop at the first garage i see as this problem is eay to explain without words, but good to know of some mechanics if problems get harder. stupid question but im serious: how dangerous is it to drive with a fuel leak? its just a small drop every few seconds but now that it has been standing theres gas over the engine part on the side which gets really hot. id imagine the wind/heat makes the gas evaporate way before it can get inflamed right? just checking, dont wanna watch my bike burn to ash because i was too lazy to push it. thanks! I'm sure when they need to buy carrots or chillies this would be useful but unless it's a mechanic market what's the point.
