THE INTERIOR MINISTER HAS PROVIDED SURVIVAL KITS TO CHIANG MAI RESIDENTS

The Interior Minister will apply the flood warning system in CHIANG MAI (เชียงใหม่) to be utilized with other flood stricken areas.

Interior Minister KONGSAK WANTHANA (คงศักดิ์ วันทนา) visited flood-stricken people yesterday (September 13th, 2005) in the SAN KAM PANG (กำแพง) district of CHIANG MAI, where he assisted those affected by the floods by providing survival kits.

Chiang Mai Governor SUWAT TANTIPHAN (สุวัฒน์ ตันติพัฒน์) welcomed the Interior Minister and also briefed him over the current situation

General KONGSAK said following the recent heavy flooding in the province many local residents have been affected, but the damage to the city was not bad thanks to an affective warning system.

As a result, the Interior Minister said that he is planning to lay down similar measures with other provinces too.

Looks like most of the moisture passed South of CM. That stuff over Laos and Vietnam looks like it still has a chance to pass over CM though.

Couldn't possibly be that the river just didn't come up as high this time as in last months flood....

As a result, the Interior Minister said that he is planning to lay down similar measures with other provinces too.

Maejo Man...... Is the timing on your photo correct? I was in that very Condo on Charoenrat, this morning at 10Am and the river was mostly back in its banks. The photo couldn't be from yesterday or Monday could it? While the walkway was under water in front of this condo, the little park next door in front of the Pun Guesthouse was out of the water, albeit not the muck and mud

The TMD website is extremely slow and unreliable today, but here is the forecast for the North for the next 7 days...  :o

Well, let's see... For the next seven days, the little picture shows a combination of sun, rain, clouds, and lightning. If they had added a snowflake, they could have covered all of their bases! :D

Well we just had a 20-minute shower in Mae-Jo, apart from which only a few spots of rain all day, is the big storm still coming ?

Time for a Chang ! :o

Gloomy but dry, this morning, apart from a couple of showers overnight. Ho-Hum.

I wonder what the contents of these 'survival-kits' would be ? A shovel for clearing the bull-shi! away ? De-hydrated drinking-water ? Inflatable plastic-bag as a flotation-device ? anybody got any better ideas ?? :o

Have a good one :D

PHITSANULOK IS EXPECTING MORE FLOODWATER

Ampur BangRagam (บางระกำ) in Phitsanulok province is preparing to provide aid to residents if floodwater from the Yhom (ยม) River arrives within the week. At the moment, floodwater is affecting some areas of BangRagam.

Water from the Yhom River has overflowed its banks and is affecting agriculture and residential areas in many tambons in Ampur BangRagam, Phitsanulok province. A total of two thousand five hundred and twenty hectares of land have been affected so far, although little damage has been caused, due to early collection of crops by agriculturists. More than one hundred and sixteen families in nine villages have been affected by the floodwaters.

Eighteen roads have been flooded, but can still accommodate travel. Phitsanulok administrators expect that within one week, floodwater from the Yhom River will reach Ampur BangRagam, and will add to water levels. Mr. Noparat ThangKittithaworn (นพรัตน์ ตั้งกิตติถาวร), the Sheriff of BangRagam has stated that preparations are being conducted, and that an aid centre has been set up in the Bangragam municipality, with boats and equipment ready to assist residents when the floodwater arrives. Twenty-four hour assistance can be accessed at 05-537-1241.
