ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Thursday said that the South Asian country is united and committed to fight terrorism, the state-run APP news agency.

"Pakistan, being a frontline state against terrorism, had paid a huge price in terms of human lives and economic losses," said Gilani. "Our resolve to fight this menace would continue as we consider it as our own war."

The PM added that his government has adopted the policy of deterrence and development to tackle the menace and extremism and terrorism and would not allow that these tendencies disrupt the society.

Despite the challenging times that Pakistan is enduring due to the severe floods, economic crisis, and rising fuel prices, Gilani assured that the government is committed to enact reforms to stabilize the economy.

In addition, the PM urged public representatives to play a more active leadership role and mobilize the nation against extremism and terrorism. Gilani called for changing the extremists' mind-set by mobilizing the people of Pakistan in a peaceful way.

Gilani assured members of the National Assembly that his government would employ all resources to disrupt terrorism from the Asian nation. The representatives voiced their support to overcome such challenge.

Also on Thursday, a Swiss delegation visited Islamabad to oversee investments in Pakistan. Currently, 18 Swiss companies are investing in the Asian country. According to Gilani, Pakistan had designed its policies to attract foreign investors.

Martin Dahinden, leader of the Swiss delegation and Director General of Swiss Development Cooperation, reassured the support of Geneva to Pakistan and expressed his condolences over the murder of the Minister for Minorities Affairs.
