Jai Dee
THE PUBLIC HEALTH MINISTRY HAS SAID THAT AN AIDS-CURING TOAD BROTH WAS UNLIKELY The Public Health Ministry's permanent secretary has pointed out that there is no scientific data indicating that toads could treat AIDS, and consumption of the animal could be fatal. Permanent-Secretary Wichai Thienthaworn (วิชัย เทียนถาวร) highlighted the case where an AIDS patient in Amnat Charoen (อำนาจเจริญ) claimed he had been cured from aids after drinking water from toad & herbs soup for 10 years. Md. Wichai said the case should not have been possible, as no scientific data ever indicated that toads could treat AIDS. Furthermore, toads are poisonous, with bufotoxin stored in their parotid glands located above the eye. Bufotoxin causes contraction of the heart, and contact with the eye may cause temporary blindness. Other parts of the toad, such as the skin, blood, internal organs, as well as eggs are also poisonous. If consumed, the victim could experience limpness in the arms & legs, vomiting, asthma, heart failure, and possibly death. Therefore, people are warned against consuming toads. As for the herb in which the patient had used in the toad broth, Md. Wichai said he has assigned the Department of Medical Sciences to study scientific data and clearly analyse the substances in the herbs. The Amnat Charoen Public Health office and the Food and Drugs Administration have also been told to inspect the safety of the concoction. Head Snake
Reminds me of the bee sting treatment for was it sickle cell or luekemia or cerebral palsy. I forget which. But, I wouldn't rule out poisonous cures like toads and the bee stings. Maybe the body can compensate by fighting the poisons and using the excess to attack other ailments. meadish_sweetball
Kudos to Toadster. I guess until they have carried out the scientific tests, the truth will remain untoad. Personally, I have heard camel toads can contribute to the spreading of AIDS, and not the other way around.
