Howdy,

Just found these forums the other day and I think they're great. Apologies for my first post being a request for information, but I'm a bit stuck :(

I'm reasonably young (25), British, and have a decent amount of savings built up (around £50,000). I would like to visit Thailand for at least 1 year, staying in Bangkok for approximately 2 months, and then moving to Koh Samui for the rest. The one thing that is holding me back is the visa side of things. Everything points towards getting an education visa through one of the language schools, but I have a feeling that's going to conflict with my travels to Samui.

I don't think getting the education visa will necessary be a problem, however my main 2 concerns are as follows:

1. Will the school deny an extension after 3 months if I am not present at lessons?

2. How would customs officials look on my travels to Samui with an education visa for a school in Bangkok? I'm assuming I would have to fly back to Bangkok every 3 months to get the extension?

It just seems a rather hard way to go about things given I won't be working in Thailand at all, and I'll essentially be pumping £1,000s into the Thai economy.

Anyway thank you for reading, and if anyone can help me out with my questions or perhaps offer an alternate solution I would be most grateful

Peace :jap:

An Education Visa would require you to actually attend the lessons and study.

Your best bet would probably be to contact the Thai Consulate in Hull and apply for as many Tourist Visa entries you can get. Probably 3.

Each entry gives 60 days and can be extended for a further 30 days at Immigration.

This would give about 9 months . After that you could probably get another one in Asia.

You can also enroll at an approved school but opt to take test elsewhere....

A young brit just completed his teaching credentials just two months ago....

The cost is around 25,000 baht, if and when you pass all the required exams.... within 3 trials.... or else....

pm me if you like more info....

Hope you do have a wonderful time in Thailand regardless.... cheers

I have no personal nor commercial interest whatever in any of these enterprises.... :)
