At least 10 killed, 29 injured in bomb blast in a mosque in Pakistan

2011-03-04 21:59:35 GMT+7 (ICT)

NOWSHERA, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- A powerful bomb on Friday exploded in a mosque and killed at least ten people in central Pakistan, the state-run APP news agency reported.

The blast took place at a mosque located in the Akbarpura area in Nowshera district. In addition, 29 people were injured in the explosion. The terror attack occurred just after Juma prayer (Friday prayers).

Mnay of the injured were reported in critical condition at the Lady Reading Hospital and the Pabbi Hospital. Police forces and firefighters were rushed to the scene as the structure of the building was damaged.

The explosion was caused by a three-kilogram explosive device which was kept in a cupboard of the mosque. The blast occurred as meals were being distributed among people at the mosque.

Approximately 200 people were in the building in Akhond Panjo Baba shrine. Authorities did not disclose the identities of the victims but confirmed that one child was among them.

On Thursday, at least nine people were killed and dozens more injured when a suicide car bombing hit a police van in northwestern Pakistan. The attack took place when a police patrol approached a vehicle for a security check at Hangu in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Surely more propaganda, it had to be an ISAF drone attack, right? Hmm, no criticism of this attack either. Seems some posters are selective when it comes to complaiing about civilian deaths.

What for a silly accusation.

The difference is actually that no-one comes here up with ugly excuses like in the other topic about the NATO killing civilians.

There i have been told i can not blame the NATO for killing civilians because they have only good intention. And even if the really kill civilians its only bashing the west to complain about it.

The point is you and others ignore what the Taliban, Al Qaeda, or other insurgents do, but can only be bothered to complain if the ISAF or some other western forces are involved. So much for credibility.

Yes, there is a difference when some terrorists kill civilians or when its done by some regular army force from the west who declared themselves to the heroes of freedom, the good guys, the white knights who bring peace and stability and so on but in reality the result of their mission is nothing more than more destruction, civilians sufferings and children death. So much for credibility.

No, this is most probably one of the various local islamist factions waging war. Pity the innocents killed. Pakistan is very close to a failed state and these madmen need to be stopped. Drones are probably required. BUT, that does not mean that civilian deaths caused by drones are to be blindly accepted as 'unavoidable'. There should be some accountability which is transparent.

Actually, the point I was making is that some believe some of these sources of information are propaganda. I was also making the point that some are hypocritical, in that there are numerous articles relating attacks like this, but they only complain when a western military is involved, nary a peep when it's the Taliban, AQ, etc.

Exactly.

It should be very clear that we all condemn terrorism.

But who was actually involved in this case? Do you know that?

Could that story be related?

CIA contractor recruiting freshmen for Taliban

According to the Pakistani newspaper The Express Tribune, CIA contractor Raymond Davis has been thrown into jail in Lahore for masterminding terrorist activities in Pakistan.

Davis is now pending charges for the murder of two men believed to be Pakistani intelligence officers.

Senior police officers said the security agents revealed the contractor’s identity and were to be disposed of.

Raymond Davis’ close ties with the TTP (the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan) has also been established.

“Davis was instrumental in recruiting young people from Punjab for the Taliban to fuel the bloody insurgency.” the official told the Express Tribune.

According to the police the man was exchanging phone calls with nearly 30 militants belonging to the banned Pakistani Taliban and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi groups.

The same groups which both the US and Pakistan blame for the assassination of Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and for the slaughter of a Wall Street Journal reporter.

I guess you haven't heard about the Mossad shark which attacked tourists in Egypt or the Israeli spy vulture formenting unrest in Saudi Arabia. :) Whatever you have to admit that Muslims seem to have a flair for dispatching fellow Muslims equal to that dispatching infidels.

The hearing of the double murder case against CIA contractor Raymond Davis has been adjourned until March 16.

During the hearing on Tuesday, Davis refused to sign the charge sheet in the court, and insisted that he had diplomatic immunity, the Dawn reports.

The US Consul General in Lahore, Carmela Conroy, was present in the court along with two other officials.

Davis' lawyers requested the court to grant them more time to prepare their arguments.
