At least 7 more violent killings in Juarez, Mexico

2011-03-07 07:20:00 GMT+7 (ICT)

JUAREZ, MEXICO (BNO NEWS) -- Seven people were murdered in the drug-plagued city of Juarez, Chihuahua - Mexico's most violent city - during late Saturday night and in the early hours of Sunday, officials said.

State Attorney General said initial investigations indicate that five people were murdered at around 5 a.m. local time, when several gunmen exited three vehicles, placed the five victims around 3 feet from a wall on a public street, and brutally shot them to death.

The incident happened in the Ciudad Juarez neighborhood, on Aritculo 123 street, and even though local residents informed of the incidents immediately as they were being carried out, the first police patrol arrived around one hour after the murders.

In a separate incident, a shooting occurred at a bar called 'El Muro' in which one individual was killed and another critically injured.

In addition, a teenage kid was killed at the Hacienda de las Torres Universdad neighborhood by unknown individuals.

Over 35,000 deaths have been documented since President Felipe Calderon launched his 'war against drug cartels' shortly after being elected in 2006.
