lorilei.lee
I felt sorry for the 2nd runner up who was actually Thai. She seemed embarrassed as she couldn't speak good English, why the ###### should she?Er.. maybe it's because Miss Thailand will be entered into the Miss Universe (or is it Miss World?) competition where the interview section is conducted in..wait for it.. English.Unbelievable, eh? Next dumb question! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> they have translators for you...
lorilei.lee
Me thinks they picked someone whom they thought could win the Miss Universe pageant, not someone who represents Thailand (she doesn't)Last Miss Universe winner for Thailand was in 1988, Porntip Nakhirunkanok. She definitely does not look at all Thai. http://123india.santabanta.com/gallery1.asp?mid1=6593 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> She is Thai, I'm pretty sure. I remeber her, and actually met her once. Funny, she's not half blood like the rest, she's full but still couldn't speak any Thai.
lorilei.lee
This (for me anyway) is an example of a beautiful Thai girl... no makeup, no lip gloss or eye shadow, no special hairdo, just natural beauty... :D Credits to sriracha john for originally posting this photo in another forum. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You must be male and therefore blind. She very obviously has makeup on, but is going for the natural look. Still cute though/

Married American BILLIONAIRE Herb Simon two years ago in a hugely lavish wedding. Wedding dress $200,000... wedding ring and tiara $2 million, etc. However, quite philanthropic... 20 million baht donation and began her own humantarian project (Angel Wings) after tsunami. Also, was a judge in the Miss Universe 2005 contest. Edited November 4, 2005 by sriracha john

Still, I cannot forgive her for introducing Maynard Ferguson (a legend on the trumpet) in english as (after first butchering the Thai language yet again) "Maynard Ferguson and his brass band" Bui rak dek Bui rak dek mahk mahk แหวะ
sriracha john
and of course, at the end of the day, her philanthropic efforts are rather token and pathetic. She spent... errr I mean Herb spent, more on the necklace in the above photo than all her tsunami efforts combined. In her television appearances she invariably comes off as very condescending to the lowly peasants and serfs around her.
