BOGOTA, COLOMBIA (BNO NEWS) -- Two Colombian Air Force helicopters crashed during a training operation on Monday evening, killing 5 people, officials said Tuesday.

Two UH-1H helicopters belonging to Colombia's Air Force Helicopter School took off from an air base in Melgar, Colombia, which is located around 45 miles southeast of Bogota, and around 2 miles from the base, the helicopters crashed.

Among the killed was a Mexican officer participating in the training operation. In addition, four other people were injured, including another Mexican official.

This is the second Colombia Air Force helicopter accident during the year. On February 18, a helicopter accident in Santander killed four people, including an army commander.
