Six killed in U.S. drone strike in Pakistan

2011-03-14 00:25:01 GMT+7 (ICT)

MIRANSHAH, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- At least six alleged militants were killed on Sunday in a U.S. drone strike in Pakistan's North Waziristan, SAMAA Television reported.

Sources said six suspected militants were killed immediately after two vehicles were targeted near Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan tribal district, which borders Afghanistan.

Four suspected militants were killed in U.S. drone strikes in the same district on Friday.

The United States is most active in the North Waziristan area as the region is known to be a stronghold of the Haqqani Network, which is considered one of the top terrorist organizations and threats to U.S. forces in Afghanistan.

U.S. drone strikes in the region this year have killed at least 80 people. The U.S. drone campaign in Pakistan is aimed at disrupting al-Qaida and the Taliban in the border area with Afghanistan, which the United States considers to be the most dangerous place on Earth.

How many millions of dollars is a drone?? Perhaps it would be more efficient to use the money to enduce them to go home.

Yes they're super expensive, as is all equipment used by US military services. Remember the $650 toilet seat reported about 30 years ago?

The Pakis hate drone bombs. I don't blame them. Anybody would hate a deadly device with no heart which could strike anywhere with just a push of a button from someone far away - with only about a half second of warning (victims might hear a quick whoooooosh). Perhaps they think it's something like 'fighting unfairly'. Well, ask those same Pakis what they think of their brethren strapping on bomb belts and strolling in to busy markets and ...kabooooooom! wiping out dozens of innocents in a second. ....in the name of Allah the Great, no less.
