President Obama to promote bill to benefit Salvadorian migrants in the U.S.

SAN SALVADOR, EL SALVADOR (BNO NEWS) -- United States President Barack Obama on Wednesday vowed to promote a migrant reform to benefit Salvadorian migrants in the U.S.

The comments were made after a meeting with his Salvadorian counterpart Mauricio Funes, during President Obama's last day in his first official visit to the Central American country.

Both leaders talked about ways to address the migrant issue and promote the development of Central American countries to avoid it. In addition, Obama and Funes also discussed other topics including security, poverty, drug trafficking and organized crime.

However, Obama said that he will need the support of the Republicans in the Congress which he had not fully received in the last two years. The U.S. leader said he is confident that a migrant reform could be achieved in the coming months.

"This is the right moment to do it and I will continue pushing the migrant reform to achieve it," Obama said. "It will not be easy, there are many factors involved, but I am confident that it will be done eventually."

There are currently an estimated 2.5 million Salvadorians in the U.S. who work and reside in the North American country. President Obama recognized the contribution and support they provide to both the U.S. and El Salvador.

"The United States is a nation of laws and a nation of migrants. So, our job is to have safe borders and a legal migration system that is effective to both sides and do not hurt the families involved," concluded Obama.

Migrants? This isn't geese we're talking about. It's illegals. And if there is one thing the U.S. doesn't need, it's even more of a free ride for uneducated, crime prone central americans and mexicans.
