Now, we all like to moan about the roads here, mainly the awful drivers. Blame it on the culture, corruption or inadequate testing.

Here is a poll to see how many % would NOT PASS a regular UK or similar driving test.

Before you just go ahead and vote, this is about LOCALS only, but can include surrounding nationalities, as I am not sure how many tuk tuk, motorcycle and taxi drivers are sctually Thai. It EXCLUDES anyone using Thai roads that originally grew up in a Western/developed nation.

Please also bear in mind that in this hypothetical situation, there would be NO MISUNDERSTANDINGS DUE TO LANGUAGE. It's not fair to fail someone for misunderstanding.

So, locals (who drive here) only and having fully understood what is asked of them, how many would FAIL a proper test?

I think this test is a not to subtle attempt to portray Thai's as stupid or incapable of driving. Have a bad day on the roads did we?

If all Thai's lived in the UK or were governed by (say) UK law then they'd have to pass it. So I'd figure on a high percentage passing first time around (+90%).

The other thing is that though I have Australian and UK licenses, if I drove in those places like I did in Thailand, then my Australian and UK licenses would be canceled pretty quick smart.

You drive to your environment. If I drove like I did in Australia on Thai roads, then I'd be cactus pretty quickly.

Frankly, there is an etiquette to be learned when driving on Thai roads, once you have that it is like driving anywhere. Keep out of the way of morons. Assume ever driver is a moron.

attempt to start a bashing thread against Thais. Topic closed

on a personal note, after 8 years of living here full time, it is more interesting to see how many foreigners totally unable to learn how to adapt to LOS traffic
