Delta Airlines baggage info says that one is allowed to carry-on a laptop. It also says, a laptop can not be in checked baggage. At the Swampy security scan one must remove the laptop - would I have any problems if I removed from my laptop bag a laptop and a netbook (small, of course)?

I have a nice soft case for the netbook. Would I be stupid to put this amongst some clothing in checked baggage if there were potential problems at the security scan?

Same for in US, when going through security on my way to Air Alaska in Seattle, any problems with a laptop and a netbook, being removed from one laptop bag?

Thanks very much for any help. :)

Should not be a problem at all. The one laptop limitation is additional to normal take-on rather than a limitation as to number you might have in total I suspect. They may want to weight it however.

The issue is not so much as to how many laptops you have, rather it's how you carry and present them at the check points for inspection. As DL notes, you cannot put anything like that in your checked bags.. to do so violates their Contract of Carriage and (more importantly) any damage or loss will not be covered or compensated by DL as it's an expressly prohibited item.

As holds true in the US... It's not so much as how many laptops tops are carried by you in one bag, only that they be unpacked and presented separately for inspection... If you happen to have one of the new TSA-compliant laptop bags, them that's OK, but these bags can only be used with one laptop unit per bag..
