Tax Guidelines For Americans Renting Out Their Thai Homes

Featured Replies

It's rare to find these kinds of details presented so clearly, so I thought I'd share it. It's from a well known expat oriented info company. This is from their free content website; as many people know this company also offers lots of fee based information services.

When you are renting out your real property in a foreign country, as a US Citizen or permanent resident, you must not only comply with all tax requirements of that foreign country, but you must also report all rental information on your US income tax return. The rules are almost the same as those for rental property located in the US, but with some variations.

People actually comply with those rules?

People actually comply with those rules?
