Spoonman
but no Thai can fix this car anymore. How do you figure that, do the Thai chev dealers send the vehicles offshore to have repairs done ? Edited July 10, 2012 by Spoonman
Spoonman
but no Thai can fix this car anymore. How do you figure that, do the Thai chev dealers send the vehicles offshore to have repairs done ? Not offshore, if you happen to find a chevy dealer in Ching Rai you will wait a little till the parts have arrived from Rayong. Hopefully the mechanics up north have been trained thoroughly on the new engine... While Toyota or Isuzu most likely have 1. the parts and 2. the knowledge to fix it since it is an old car. So A Thai can fix this vehicle, thanks for clearing that up.

Spoonman
Carsten, you do realise these "new vehicles" are not a world first for Thailand requiring a plug into a service computer don't you. Maybe time to pull your head from the sand.
Spoonman
Sounds like the Aston has shit a gearbox, even in England the local mechanic would not be able to fix it and it would be towed to a specialist, did not really think that reply through did you. I suggest swapping it for a Honda wave.
WebBangkok
Who has automatic wipers? Is it only on the WIldtrak models? In the manual, it says Auto wipers OR the other one. funcat
From your diagram point "B Intermittent wipe or autowipers"...wonder if there is a separate switch for "auto/manual" for that ?...the frequency of wipes should be controlled by the "ring" adjustment "A-C"...even ,when in "auto" setting...IMO

Mine work like a charm! Although it doesn't detect the amount of rain that quickly it still very handy. You have full manual with the use of the ring adjustment "A/C", and also the full adjustment on auto with the "A/C". I've just left them on full auto and when a light show starts the are fine on the 2nd bar of the "A/C" ring, but if it's heavier I have to twist the ring to speed them up or down. I see where you are coming from with they aren't full auto, but they ain't that bad. Although they do speed up or slow down it does take a few seconds to kick in. bkkjames
Had my first up close look today at the Hi Rider XLT double cab today at Ford Silom. Nice looking truck. Was suprised by how much room the rear passenger area has compared to others i look at. Now the tough part, wait for an answer for when a AT version of the 4x4 is available, wait for my preffered choice the 3.2 wildtrak 4x4 or just go for the two wheel drive i saw today. Naturally, I was ignored by the sales person? who sat on her chair while the other one in attendance tended to two other guys. All I wanted to know was what was required to order the XLT I saw today, and how long a wait. Not even a hello. Guess they don't need upwards of 900k to 1 million baht from me. Here is the page in the manual There should be a small optical sensor near the rear view mirror which senses the rain. Perhaps that needs to be looked at or perhaps your window tint is interfering with it. You should take it into the dealer because it sounds like it is just your unit that has this problem. The people of Ford Silom are very kind and helpful if you go and talk to them... However, many of them do not speak English fluently enough and hence may fear not understanding you or giving satisfactory answer. Try getting in touch with Khun Areeya, she has a good English level and may be able to help you. If you wish, I can tell you what was required: 1° 3 sets of copies of passport and visa + work permit; 2° Salary slip (one set) 3° Bank book (3 sets) PM me if you want the mail of K. Areeya. WebBangkok
Yes, not happy with some things in the car. - Stereo (JUST HAPPEN TODAY) does not have the correct names for each song, but maybe the USB is just <deleted>... - one vent broken already - dam_n auto wipers dont wipe on light rain - when phone was connected with blue tooth it rang people without me doing anything. - Aircon on warmest settings is colder than the Fortuners coldest setting. - I swear that dial on the a/c setting doesnt do anything, I dont notice any difference at min or max. Other than that, its been a great car

Hi mate, yea perhaps I was a little bit harsh in my appraisal email. Probably more to do with the language barrier than anything else as you pointed out. They did reply by email to me last night saying 3-4 months for xlt but limited colours. Thanks for the info. If we order one we will do so through my wifes name to qualify for the tax rebate. Thanks again.

Other than that, its been a great car Stereo = Mine takes a while to recognize the tracks on the USB, but the again I have an 8GB stick full of music. Vent broken = That will be covered on warranty for sure. My 2 year old is like a bull in a china-shop and I'm surprised none of mine have busted yet. Auto wipers = Also warranty. Bluetooth = Mine works like a charm! Stupid question, but are you sure that you didn't touch the steering wheel controls, if not there's a rest for the Bluetooth settings, just Google it. Air Con = There's something wrong with your, because mine on the lowest is not too cold but if I twist the dial all the way to the right it's dam_n cold. Also, warranty issue though. Try taking it to another dealer if they aren't finding the faults. Good luck, I feel for you, not a good position to be in!

WebBangkok
Well i switched USB drives and its all good again. The phone incident with the bluetooth has not happen in awhile, perhaps I did accidently hit the button. I will talk to the dealer about the Auto wipers, the aircon (it seems to be stuck on MAX) as there is not the slightest difference if I move the know to the left or right. kiwiinasia
I have ordered the Mazda BT-50 as my Ford dealer has had 2 weeks to tell me when the XLT will arrive and after a visit and a phone call & text still no reply. Mazda are much keener for sales and at 874K I get a better deal all round. So I am going with the Mazda. Its a 3 month wait (onto 7 with ford for WT 2.2), but what the hell if the ford arrives first I will be shocked. Its going to be fun to drive into Ford in the BT-50 and ask for my 5k back as you are too late you tossers! I'll be driving a dolphin though! The looks will grow on you as I am really loving the looks of my BT more and more. It's not boring (yeah it could be a big smiling dolphin ). Y'day parked the truck and before I could get out, had a guy jump out of his car and started snapping pictures of it. Perhaps going into his dolphin photo collection. Plus with the 874k model you'll get the reverse sensors w/graphic display, bluetooth, usb, steering wheel controls, lsd, leather and cruise control over the XLT. Mazda service is much better. My service dealer is top notch; delivered my truck in 2 months, white plate 5 weeks after that and even serves coffee, tea, water or juice while I wait. necronx99
You guys waiting should do what I did with my much better looking bt 50 pro. After a month of maybes from the dealer I printed out the dealer contact list and had the Missus ring them in turn each day. After 3 days we found a cancelled order in the color and model we wanted.
