At least 3 guards killed at NATO terminal in Pakistan

2011-04-01 20:17:07 GMT+7 (ICT)

PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- Three guards at a NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) truck terminal in Pakistan were brutally killed during an attack that also damaged several oil tankers, officials said Friday.

The attack occurred in Landi Kotal, which is located in the restive Khyber tribal region near the Afghan border, where the three guards were reportedly beheaded, according to Pakistan's the Nation.

In addition, two other guards were unaccounted for Friday morning, and local authorities believe they were kidnapped by the militants.

The region is the main supply route for almost 150,000 ISAF troops in Afghanistan, and attacks against supply trucks are not uncommon.

In a separate incident, a suicide bomber blew himself up in the first floor of the Khalid market, which is located in the Darra Adam Khel area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, killing two people.

Many of the market's shops were closed due to Friday prayers, and authorities believe the attacker could have been targeting a nearby mosque.
