hi, can anybody tell me the best time to book hotels for a 16 day trip to thailand next easter. My wife and I intend to stay a couple of nights in bangkok and the rest of the time near a beach in 4 or 5 star accomodation. We dont know what resort to stay in yet and were wondering whether we should book now or later. Thanks Tony

well, if you know exactly date that you will go ..and where you want to go.. so i think its good idea to book the place in advance ,

especially next easter = Sunday 16th April 2006 , and i reckon that time will be long holidays in TH ( Songkarn Day from 13th ) plus it is high season in that time for the beach ...methinks it will be hard to book any place to rest ..

if i was you, i would book the place to live , on Jan-Feb

1 day before Songkran I booked a good hotel at Koh Samui.

Hotel capacities are usualy sold to travel agencies, a year in advance. The hotels have no visibility how many rooms would be available.

Whatever, expect to be hit with a surcharge for the Songran time.

Why don't you go online and use the links provided by this site? I have used then before I knew of this board.

The hotels, talking to them directly, may (and will) be more expensive.

It's Thailand but it works. Works very well.

Once you decide exactly what it is that you want to do, you should try to make a booking. Accomodation can get very booked up during the Songkran festival, although probably not as bad in the south as it would be in say,Chiang Mai. Also a good idea to tend to your transportation needs in advance (e.g. flights) as these also tend to get booked early for the Songkran festival. If you put off a Songkran-period booking 'til the last minute, you may get lucky as think_too_mut did, or you may get stuck with the dregs of what is left.
