Visa Run To Malaysia - Questions

Featured Replies

Hi,

Everything I've seen on this subject is a few years old in these forums, so..

My fiance and I are looking to make a visa run down to KL in Malaysia (mostly due to the new visa probs in laos) and we're hoping to save money over the usual visa run on a minibus, and we've never traveled via train here.

We're currently living in Pattaya and we need to get out of Thailand by the 8th of April. We've seen the train schedules and all that, but mostly we're curious about the Malaysian visa process once we get off the train. According to what I've read, as an American and Ukrainian we are able to enter without a visa for up to 30 days. Does that still apply in this situation from a train?

Any other tips or thoughts? Neither of us has ever been to Malaysia so we know nothing and we don't have a lot of time to figure it out. We just want to get our visas and get back to thailand cheaper than the newly outrageous 18,000 baht the usual visa run company wants to charge to Laos for what would undoubtedly be a 30 day visa.

Thanks a lot.

Yes the same visa exempt entry is available by train as by air. At border you go through Thai exit/Malay entry process on platform.

Jack golf does a visa run for a lot less. Cambodia for 2,000 bhat and other companies charge $250 both from Bangkok.
