Ayutthaya For Songkran

Featured Replies

I'm relatively new to Thailand (well, i've been here 3 months) and I was thinking of going to Ayutthaya for 2 days during Songkran. I get the week off work and all my Thai co-workers are going back home. My farang friends are leaving the country. I kinda just want to take some time off to relax but I've heard great things about Ayutthaya.

I plan on taking the bus from Mo Chit, visit some temples/ ruins and then just 'hang out' for a day. Any tips, places to stay for a newbie girl in Thailand will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Make sure you have hotel reservations. It will be packed for sure.

Also, buses heading out of town will be crazy full. I did this several years ago and it took HOURS just to get out of Bangkok. The bus station was crazy packed and we had to wait a long time to get a seat.

Went last year for Songkarn, and gotta warn you it is hectic, especially near the main ruins. The streets were full of cars, buses and of course people it took us about 30 mins to move 10 feet in my car.

But if you don't mind the traffic and getting soaked then it go for it as everyone was having a great time!
