Posting Passport To Uk For Ed-Visa

Featured Replies

Hi guys, Would really appreciate a little clarification or personal experience as to whether anyone is having issues or problems sending their passports registered delivery to and from the UK for their visas. I am aware I'd need to leave Thailand, (I live on Lanta so would probably head down into Malaysia), and have a friend who can carry the passport to the UK with her. I also have relatives there still, so figure I can get the application posted to and from Hull domestically. I guess my concern is in the posting it (obviously tracked, registered, DHL-type service) back into Malaysia for collection. A number of my friends have used this method previously but have been having problems and hold-ups with the return coming through customs. (Their passports being held for up to 10 days). I have tried to check the restricted and banned items by post for both England and Malaysia and a British Passport does not seem to be a problem. Some of my friends who experienced problems were not UK passport holders but US, Canadian and German. Does anyone have any advice or recent experience with this at all? Thanks a lot!

You are aware that Hull no longer issues non immigrant visa for visiting friends and family as they did before?

Edit: Just noted you said ED in the header (which is often missed in the thread) so my above is not applicable.

Totally illegal to be in any foreign country without your passport. ( Exempt Schengen )

Also I hope you know that hull does not issue non-O visas for "visiting friends" any more.

As for ED-visa KL has the same rules that hull has, so why send it?
