Garmin 3770 Questions

Featured Replies

Hi, few short questions about my 3770.

- is it somehow possible to have like icons of 7eleven logo on some of the grocery stores pois? Maybe there is custom firmware/addon for esri v11?

- where to buy a gtm35 (for traffic avoidence) in bangkok, all shops ive been to say they only sell it as a set with 3770 included, not seperate.

- i love the mic inside when calling, but the speakers r horrible, any idea if somehow possible to have the audio through my alpine audio unit? I dont believe the 3770 has an audio output

- possible to clone screen from garmin 3770 to my top/roof screen? Everything is possible i guess, but how...?

Thats it for now, hope that at least 1 can be answered but the more the better :)

Thx in advance,

Hans in a PJS ;)

Traffic avoidance in Bangkok? :cheesy:

You might get someone with the technical savvy here, but there is also a user forum on the Garmin website that might be worth a try.

Regarding the audio output, does your alpine unit have Bluetooth? If there's no audio out on the 3770, that's probably your only option.

I can't believe that the top of the line Nuvi 3770 lacks so many features. It has no audio book or MP3 player. It has no aux. jack and no FM transmitter. That definitely means that I have no desire to upgrade (it would definitely be a downgrade) my Nuvis. I have two much cheaper units, a 750 and an 855 and both have all the above features. I use a Nuvi even on short trips that I already know the way just so I can listen to my audio books and sometimes MP3 music. Garmin Thailand appears to be going backwards.

Sorry 'Hans in a PJS' but the answers to your questions appear to be NO, NO, NO and NO.

You supposedly can add custom POIs but not change existing ones. The 3770 comes with a traffic receiver accessory included, if missing ask the dealer where you purchased it. The 3770 has no MP3/Book audio capability and no line-out jack. It does have a USB port to connect to your computer so you can download and store audio files and play them through the horrible speaker.

Not their finest hour. There are also issues with their V11 map.

Would you care to elaborate on the "issues" with the V11 map and do they relate to V11 in general or V11 in conjunction with the Nuvi 3770? Can't say that the lack of audio book and MP3 compatibility is much of an issue to me, it's a GPS, but at the price it needs to be a good one! Is the speaker really that bad.............how good does it need to be to listen to driving directions?

1. The issues are related to the map compatibility with various Garmin GPS models. Maps included with original purchase are ok.

2. The 3770 is so thin that a decent speaker cannot be housed internally. There is an auxiliary speaker in the suction cup mount.

Thanks for that. I'll be buying locally with a pre-installed map so compatibility shouldn't be an issue.

Gadgetrend in Bangkok are claiming to be supplying with TSM version 11.1 already though I didn't think it was out till tomorrow. I'll have to have a listen to the speaker before I finally decide on the 3770 then, maybe the 1460 which is a little thicker would have better sound although I had heard somewhere that that model was slower on picking up satellites. Decisions, decisions!!
