We should start all over again to help the country prosper," Thaksin said.

The best way would be to put corrupt politicians in jail, not to give the an "amnesty". And it might be useful to add a meaningful penalty for electoral fraud - let's say "death".

He wants to reset the clock to be just as it was before he and many others got caught cheating, stealing from and abusing the Thai people. And then all his court cases, not initially deemed politicals will be awash with attempts to make them ALL seem political and not legal, thus wasting time and Thailands assets to prosecute him.

Thaksin said his immediate focus would be on slashing corporate tax rates and pushing for an amnesty for everybody charged with politically linked offences since the 2006 military coup, which toppled him from power.

Both of which will benefit him.

After months of silence, Thaksin has become more vocal of late, indicating he intends to be actively engaged in Thai politics.

"Intends to be" Do you mean that he isn't already?

The Wall Street Journal quoted Thaksin as saying. "What's happening in the Middle East and North Africa tells you that the whole world, the majority of people, are changing because of the influence of what they see outside of their own country and the impact of the Internet and social networks."

The dictators that have been overthrown in the Middle East and North Africa were in power for 20-30 years. That's what Thaksin aspires to.

amnesty for all politicians who have been banned from politics is hardly an ecomonic policy is it...hang on I get it....amnesty so he can all his money back he swindled Thailand out of....

The man is an absolute fruit loop...

Thaksin eco plan:

Give the people handout so they vote for us and then at thesame time enrich ourselves by taking 2 time more. Approve projects for placesthat we have properties so after the project our property valued skyrockets, etc. etc.

Well done Khun Thaksin. You ran the country's economy far better than this mob who are just throwing money to the military and ignoring the country and its poorer people.

Good luck, there is hope for Thailand to become a great country once again, it was going ahead under your govt. So hang in there. The majority of the population want you.

K. Thaksin run the country in a period of worldwide economical boom. Thaksinomics had it's own problems in the long run. These started to become visible in 2005/2006. With the global economical crisis from 2008 till (in a way) now, Thailand would not have escaped major problems. Finance Minister Korn is doing a reasonable job under circumstances. so hang in there PM Abhisit c.s., a larger part of the population wants you

For a great many people in this country, excluding ex pats who have no vote and whose opinions are for entertainment only, Thaksin is the saviour and Abhisit is the villain, and vice versa. What you say and the post you quote shows how divided this county really is. It is divided politically, economically and socially. Whichever party or coalition of parties forms the next government those divisions will not be healed.

A recent survey contradicts this statement entirely. Abhisit is only a villain only if you completely buy into the red propaganda. What was that percentage of people who do again?

Perhaps for those living in Singapore it has appeared that way, but he certainly hasn't for Thais in Thailand.
