Pheu Thai asked for security for Red Shirt today to avoid disturbances by a third party

By NUPPOL SUVANSOMBUT.

BANGKOK, 10 April 2011 (NNT)-The Pheu Thai Party has called on the government to provide safety during their mass gathering today for fears third party individuals could be among them posing as Red Shirt members to instigate problems.

The Party Spokerperson, Prompong Nopparit, blamed the government for not taking the murder of several Red Shirts seriously which took place exactly one year ago at Khok Wua intersection. He said until now The Department of Special Investigation has not made any progress, adding that the government could be stalling the case.

Mr. Prompong further said that he did not want any third party to be interfering with the Red Shirt gathering today, citing that they could be blamed for any violence or chaos that they did not cause. He said this was why he needed the government to send forces to maintain law and order.

Why does this sound like preparing a defense in advance for violence?

After all the calls for violence from Red Shirt leaders last year ... it doesn't take fake reds .. just reds that remember what they have been told to do.

The Fake Reds... because real Reds are too compassionate to act in such a manner...

Is this guy really as big an idiot as his public statements make him out to be?? Hard to helieve, but his track record is spotty at best.

Third party infiltrating the reds to cause violence?

It's been done, a year ago, but it was to do violence against the government security forces, and possibly against their own red rank and file to blame on the army.

This year they ask the government security forces to protect them... from whom? possible third party... who Chamlong on his scooter?

In nearly the same breath he accuses the government of essentially not caring about Red shirt deaths, but wants them to protect against what? More unknown assailants.

Almost sounds like a way to have the government look bad for NOT stopping ringers in the red ranks. See we warned you in advance but you didn't listen!

Oh wait we might have ringers, so don't blame us,

if it goes bad it is because you didn't protect us,

and if you get killed trying, well, we told you so!

Every time the reds go off on a violent binge (and apart from last year there was Songkran 2009) and the publicity goes bad, out comes the 'fake reds' label. Now that they are using the tactic in advance of a demonstration is just a measure of the extent of their defeat last year. Also, they know that the accusations of being a violent red mob with different lengths of leash held by Thaksin has affected red morale, so the warnings are as much to gee up the troops as for external consumption. Nobody outside is buying but hey ho.

Well why or why can not demonstrations be banned in The New Constitution and this means all parties and all colours and in this way perhaps the infiltrators, whoever they are will not drum up trouble or is this an excuse before it happens!!!!

I am not in to politics, but saying this everyone is involved indirectly in poitics in some way, be it at the work place or indeed in ones own Family.

The Grandparents here bring up their sons.daughter in laws children and the so called PARENTS lol either go out to work or have several wives/husbands or boyfriends/girlfriends that they do not seem to care about their children. Yes in stable relationships they have to go out to work for money, the route to necessary existence, but he Grandparents never get much help and sometimes very little at all

The Grandparents are really taken advantage of and in the case of so many couples splitting up more and more pressure is on the wonderful Grandparents.

When the so called :PARENTS have any spare time they seem to be either shopping or playing football and hardly spend anytime with THEIR children.

Infact they are very very selfish indeed and it does not matter what the Grandparents want to do and it is marvelous how wonderful these children are and yes in many cases it is due one set of Grandparents and a huge well done to u all and yes we love to look after the children, but not 24 hours in a day lol , but not short of the mark

Reds say anything to get sympathy for their cause nowthat they release they have lost a lot of support. It would be in their interestto stop reminding people about the problems and anarchy they caused last year

I saw plenty of video footage of last year's shootings. It was absolutely clear that the soldiiers themselves were under attack! Fire crackers blew off their feet and they were shot by men in black. There were many witnesses who saw them too! Some pictures of the shooters in black came out quickly and then went away. I managed to keep one of those photos so I know what two of them look like. I remember several months ago when some of the black shirts were arrested in the deep south and at least one of them admitted to the crime. What ever happened to them? Incase people don't know, they were watermelon soldiers who were paid by the red shirt general who got assasinated last year.

Now why am I amazed?

I mean here is this group protesting against the government and they want government protection whilst they are protesting.

And this is the opposition that may form the next government.

Help me daisy please.

I'm not daisy, but I'lll try to help. See there have been many rumours around Bangkok about an insurection by certain factions within the military. And as they say, 'there's no smoke without fire.' Does anyone else remember last year when the Red-shirt mob took over the Army, troops, weapons, tanks, and everything else they could get their hands on? So many of the soldiers (kidnapped or not) either looked like they had turned sides or they had always been red-shirts to begin with. There were times when the UDD leaders had called a victory! Now they are back at it again.

The preemptive 'fake reds' claim is a development of existing tactics at least.

I normally agree with you Ani,

However this time the reds acknowledged their "defenders" last year, so they weren't fake :)

Yes, BUT only later on, and they denied them for a long time, well after the riots. Yes, they had a guards group, stated them up front, but the black ops guys they denied till it was a lost cause.
