My baby daughter is due to have her japanese encephalitis vaccine in about 6 weeks when she will be 12mnths and I was wondering if anyone else's baby has had this and experienced any side effects?

She had her MMR jab at 9mnths and was a bit feverish and clingy for a while afterwards, I often wonder if all these vaccines are even necessary, how common is JE in Thailand?

Thanks

Not very common. The adults that I've known to have gotten the vaccine had bad reactions. One of them (my friend) ended up with an immune disorder that was directly linked back to the mouse serum used in the vaccine. Look at the risks of the disease vs. the risks of the vaccine. Look at the vaccine ingredients.

I can't say for certain if there are any ill effects from the vaccine but I was stationed in Okinawa Japan for 3 years and all service members and their families were required to receive the JEV cycle. I had no effect from the vaccine nor had anyone i knew or their families.

I've got 3 kids and all had the vaccination without suffering side effects. I also had it a few months back. Don't worry, go for it.
