KARACHI, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- A total of eight people on Tuesday were killed in the troubled Karachi region in southwest Pakistan due to the violence over the last 24 hours.

According to Ary news television, various violent incidents took place in several locations in Karachi. In the morning, unidentified gunmen shot dead three people in Korangi, Sarjani and Kharadar.

A bus was later attack by unknown gunmen near a gas station in Shah Latif. As a result, one person identified as Zia Ul-Haq was gunned down. Three more fatalities were reported in Gulbahar area.

The last victim was assassinated in the Baras Chowk area. Karachi police said that Tuesday's victims were a result of personal enmity. However, an estimated 500 murders have taken place this year in the region, according to the Sindh Home Ministry.

Last week, three government employees were killed in the Mehmoodabad area while collecting information for the census. Two of the employees worked at the Karachi Water and Sewage Board and the other at the city's Fire Department.

Violence in Karachi continues spiraling out of authorities' control. On April 11, Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi vice-chairman Akhtar Hussain and two other political activists were shot dead after visiting party leader Afaq Ahmed in Central Jail Karachi.
