NEW DELHI, INDIA (BNO NEWS) -- An Indian Army helicopter carrying four people was reported missing on Thursday, officials said.

At around 10:30 a.m. local time Advance Light Helicopter Dhruv of India's Army Aviation Corps took off from Sewak Road Base in Siliguri, in the northeastern Indian state of West Bengal. The Base is under the 33 Corps Headquarters.

According to reports by India's the Hindu, air controllers lost contact with the chopper, which was carrying two pilots and two soldiers, around one hour after its takeoff, triggering fears of the personnel's fates.

The Dhruv is a utility helicopter developed and manufactured by India's Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.

On Tuesday, 17 people were killed after an Mi-172 helicopter belonging to Pawan Hans Helicopters Limited crashed while attempting to land at Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh.
