Root Canal Cost?

Featured Replies

Has anyone here had a root canal done recently? If so, what was the cost? I need it done, and would like to have an idea of the cost before I go in and talk to the dentist.

I know it will vary based on the dentist and location, but I'm looking for a rough figure.

Thanks.

About 5,000bht for the root canal (3-5 visits)

Then another 5,000bht for the crown, 3-6 months later

I went into the dental clinic on the Suthep Rd/Canal Rd junction in CM today. It looks like not the most expensive or the cheapest place.

They did an Xray and told me I needed a root canal on the second from back lower right.

Estimate:

Remove 1000

Root canal 7000

post 3000

Filling ? don't know yet

Crown 7000 (regular quality)

Total=over 18,000

Is this OK?

Why are root canals 7000? Isn't it just a bit of digging and packing?

The lady mentioned "It's cheaper than in your country"

I said "This is my country". Hmmm.

You have gone to an expensive place, try somewhere else.

Root canal takes 3 - 5 appointments by a specialist,

they scrape some out, put anti-biotics in the hole, then temporary filling

repeat until no root and no infection. My last one took 3 months to process.

Now you have a dead tooth, it will dry out and become brittle over the next 6-12 months

You have two options

1) leave it and hope it doesn't break if you forget yourself and bite something hard with it.

2) stump and/or post (this is the shaping to be done before fitting a crown), then put a crown over the stump. Best done after 6 months, if the root work becomes infected, the crown will need to be removed.

Remove charge 1000bht, don't know what that is, you aren't having the tooth removed

Post charge 3000bht, they can't tell if you need a post or not before doing the root canal, it depends on how much of the tooth is removed.

They are overcharging by at least 5,000 bht, I was quoted root canal 5,000bht, stump and post at 1,500bht, crown 5,000bht last year.

try walking into 5 or 6 other places ask the cost of a root canal ....... root canal .... tow rai?

I went to Bangkok smile dental clinic on Asoke road i know their rate is a bit higher than normal. But i trusted their qualified doctors and i'm happy with the result. They have the price put on their website. www.bangkoksmiledental.com

Had my first root canal appointment today.

She drilled a hole, scraped out the pulp, put in antibiotics and put on a temporary filling.

Cost: 1000 baht.

I have to go back in one month for the next step which will cost about 2,000 more.

But here's the interesting part. Step three is putting on the crown, and that is supposedly going to cost 12,000 baht.

There's no way I'm paying 12,000 for a crown. Once she's done with the second step next month, I'm going to start looking for another dentist.

best to wait 6 months before the crown is fitted anyway

If you get a root infection, they have to remove the crown (sometimes they can drill through and fill) and start again.

Step 2

Tell them you don't want the stump made (if they try to do it) quite yet and just fill.

think it depends if and how much gold they use, this time i had no gold, dentist said just as good nowdays 8k gold 14k

I paid about 30K ( with crown ) at Bkk / Ptty dental dept, i think it was about 5 or 6 visits for scraping and cleaning - not much fun!
