Grand Vitara

Featured Replies

Been seeing a few of them lately. New model looks quite decent. Like a smaller land rover. With nice mags and maybe backlights changed to electronic LEDS(seen that today on a brand i have never seen, it was a black car with a yellow gold small logo.. it looked like a toyota altis with tons of body mods to make it look large and more like a bmw) It would look quite fancy

new one for about 1mil? I can't read thai but from the website its either 140 or 183 HP

Anyone has more info/tried one?

Even the inside is quite fine for that price(saw on one2car.com)

I've been eyeballing them for a while. I really like the exterior look of them. My only concern is the after market service. (I'm not worried about resale, as, if I buy one, I'll drive it for 10+ years)

Watching this video makes me want to have one.

nice video.. so make it higher by a couple inches and you've got a really nice SUV without all the space(if you're not one who needs space)

Can the car pros here enlighten me on the safety/HP features of the thai version?

MRO? need your knowledge :jap:

To be frank, I'm not right person to ask ;)

I can however confirm that the Thailand market version is Indonesian sourced and runs a 2.0L gasoline engine making 140HP, with fuel economy around 7-9km/l.

That makes the running costs around in the 4.1 - 5.3 Baht/KM range (based on Gasohol 91, worse on 95), which for me is fine for something with 400+ HP, but not this :)

By comparison, something like a Pajero Sport costs 2.5 - 3.0 Baht/km, to run so based on averages around 2 Baht/KM cheaper. With the kind of KM's my wife drives, that means it'd cost almost 60,000 Baht/year more to keep somehting like the Vitara on the road. Then there's resale value, practicality and performance to consider.. The bottom line is that in just 3 years of ownership (the max. I'd keep a car), the Vitara would cost some 350,000 Baht more to own over a Pajero Sport, hence why I bought my wife the latter ;)

All that said, it's a nice car - if you really like it, travel light KM's and intend to keep the car for a long time, I suppose you could rationalize the cost of ownership ;)

Note that I also feel the same about the CR-V, X-Trail, Escape and gasoline Captiva - all nice cars, but very difficult to make the pros and cons balance, IMHO.

Ok had no idea it had so a bad gas mileage. Too bad, if it were around 11-12 it would be a really great little cheap SUV.

Ill stick to pajero or ranger. Thanks
