Lexmark Printers Are You Thinking Of Buying A New Printer!

Does Lexmark really think everyone will not try to refill the cartridge, especially @ 2,000 for replacement cartridges? What a pathetic marketing strategy, sell the printer @ 5-6,000 then ripem' off on cartridge. I say don't buy one cos you cannot refill the cartridges, when you do the printer goes into shock and simply shutdown, does absolutely nothing. Took it for service and they said I must buy new cartridges. Big mistake I made, cos in Tuk.com you can buy any other brand and they have huge ink cartridges hanging off the side.

Hi John,

I also made the mistake of buying a Lexmark printer and I have had the same problems. The cost of the replacement cartridges is extortionate and even if you get the original product the cartridges are always showing empty. The first tme that this happened I went back to the supplier and asked him why and he said that the copper connectors inside the printer probably needed cleaning ( I 'd had the printer for 2 weeks at that time). I cleaned them and still no joy, so Goodbye from me Lexmark.

Cheers, Rick

Sorry to hear you only got 2 weeks out of yours, I got almost a year......... Good luck if you buy a new printer.. Seen one 2day, large ink wells hanging off the side scanner 2,900. Hmm! I paid 5,600 for the lexmark

Someon once told me that the cheaper the printer the more expensive the ink and vice versa. The last time I bought a printer I kept that in mind and it seemd to be true. It does raise a question for the manufacturers though as the amount of ink cartridges thrown away must be causing serious pollution problems. Perhaps one day they wil be forced to allow them to be officially refilled. The last time I bought cartridges for my HP they were 350B each (single colour per cartridge) but the most economic must be the Epson fitted with the local kit using 1/2L (I think) industrial ink bottles.

I have a Lexmark printer "X5150" for some eight years, no problems in this sense, of course the cartridges are expensive and as a result I had them always refilled in a printing shop ...both of them, (black and coloured) 90% of the refills have always been working al-right, for the odd one that failed I had of course to by a new one but that did not occur often, perhaps I am lucky here.

Pretty much par for the course, cheap printer, expensive ink!

The very cheap printers are aimed for people who every few days have to print e few pages. Brilliant for them as they can get going for under 1000 Baht nowadays (Cheap HP or Lexmark).

Although, as the OP mentions between 5,000 and 6,000 for the printer, that should be in the middle price bracket and not be overly expensive on ink...

Do note that those printers with tanks hanging of the sides are NOT factory made, and do not come with factory warranty. These are modified by local entrepreneurs! Most do work OK though, but definitely not for foto printing, color quality of those other inks simply does not match the original inks...

Unless you want color, you'd have to go with a cheap B/W laser, less then 4000 Baht and good for loads of pages...
