Mr Alletzhauser was originally from New York state.

PHUKET: -- An American man was found dead in his rented home in Phuket's Paklok subdistrict late yesterday afternoon.

Thalang Police duty officer Pratiwat Yodkhwan identified the deceased as 51-year-old Albert Alletzhauser, originally from New York.

Mr Alletzhauser's body was discovered by his wife after someone at his daughter’s school called to ask why nobody had come to pick up their daughter.

When calls to the home and Mr Alletzhauser's mobile phone went unanswered, the wife rushed home to find his body lying face up in the bathroom of their home in the upscale Cape Heights housing estate at Cape Yamu.

Mr Alletzhauser's wife, young daughter and friends watched in tears as Kusoldharm Foundation workers prepared the body for transport to Thalang Hospital for examination.

Lt Pratiwat Yodkhwan said initial questioning revealed that Mr Alletzhauser suffered from a heart condition and that medication to treat the ailment was found inside the house.

Mr Alletzhauser did not live in Thailand full-time but came to visit his wife and daughter regularly, he added.

Hope he made arrangements for his wife and daughter in the case of his demise or they will be back to hard times again now.

Correction: Dead American found by partner, not wife

PHUKET: The woman who discovered the body of Albert Alletzhauser on Tuesday was the mother of his daughter but not his wife, the Gazette has learned.

The woman, Mikki Ferreira, wrote the following to the Gazette this morning:

Dear Editor,

“I would appreciate it if you set the record straight about the details of Mr Alletzhauser’s death. He was indeed found the way described, but not by his wife. I am the mother of his daughter, and I did find him, but his wife is Mrs Anne Alletzhauser.

“Mr Alletzhauser was in Thailand visiting his daughter. I would really appreciate it if you could print a correction saying that the person who found him was his youngest daughter’s mother and not Mrs Alletzhauser. As you can understand the current statement is painful for his family.

Thank you

Mikki Ferreira”

The Gazette thanks Ms Ferreira for her letter and expresses condolences to all of the late Mr Alletzhauser’s family and friends.

Lol, and now this header has to be rectified as well. It sounds like it was not his partner, but the mother of his youngest daughter.

Interesting. It's still sad that anyone lost a father/husband/etc, but the correction now makes him sound less than honorable. The article doesn't give full details, but since his daughter is young and he seems to have older children, it sounds like he most likely had a wife & child(ren) in the US - AND a girlfriend & child in Thailand. That's not the kind of thing I'd want to announce to the world.

Idiotic comments.
