Im not sure if this is the right forum for my topic but im sure the Mods will put it right

what if anything can be done about schools having the monoply on uniforms?

for a young single mother this can be very expensive she can not buy from another source.

most schools have 3 different uniforms for use in 1 week x 2 uniforms each that is 6 uniforms.

plus other extras + school fees which can be expensive as well.

does any one in the government departments care.

No they don't, it has been the way for many years, the school prints new shirts every so many years and the students must buy them.

Most private schools demand that the students wear the same shirts / skirt / trousers, necktie and one P.E set, then one jacket too for formal occasions. Shoes can be local market. Don't know of any that demand more than that

A few people I know have money problems too. Solution for them is to buy one of each and wash every day

If it's a private school and the mother accepts the school, then she also accepts the uniform the school uses. Sorry, nothing to do about that.

Bear with me:

Last week my favorite noodle shop posted a sign that said prices of soup would be going up by 5 baht per bowl effective 15 May. Fair enough....what with all the other prices going up.

Today, the sign was down. I inquired. The owner said she backed off the price increase as it was scheduled the same time as the beginning of a new school year. She said that people are already overwhelmed with the cost of buying uniforms/etc.......she couldn't imagine them dealing with an extra 5 baht for soup. The price rise was put on the back burner.

True story.
