I don't particularly want to be here during the election period and i thinking of taking a trip to China for a short while.

Firstly, can someone confirm the actual date of the election? I believe it's the 3rd of July, right?

How long to count the votes, when do they announce the winner?

I was thinking of going away for a week, 30/06 to 07/07

Any ideas?

Cheers

OP is asking for a factual answer, not your political opinions. You have ten gazillion other threads specifically about Thai politics you can post in, so kindly post there and do not hijack threads. Any further such posts that hijack in this manner will result in a something more formal than a mere public warning

To the best of my recollection, everything is counted and announced on election night. The constituency seats are "first past the post", so there is no need to count preference votes. Thailand has relatively few polling stations in remote locations, so no need to wait for vote count sheets to travel from some remote outpost to the central point of the constituency. And, I don't believe there is any provision for Thai's to vote from abroad, so no need to wait for that either.

Of course, any results which are extremely close are likely to be contested by the losing candidate, just as in any country. But, those are normally a very small number of seats, and therefore, unlikely to affect the overall outcome.
