Can I Teach A Class Without A Visa

Featured Replies

i am thinking about running a class teaching c++ programming and windows programming. i'm on a toursit visa. would there be any problem with this plan? I'd just rent a conference room in a hotel for the class.

any ideas what I could charge for a 2 week class? i'd limit the class size to about 10.

thanks.

Steve,

Ofcourseyou cannot give classes to anybody on a commercial basis on a tourist visa. You need a work permit for that.

See elsewhere on this site about the Thai visa rules.

It takes more than "getting a work permit" to run classroom instruction. You must actually register a school.

If you want to survey pricing for similar training, go up to the upper levels at Panthip Plaza, where the software schools are set up - there are dozens of them, with prices posted for virtually every kind of training you could imagine. That's your competition. I don't know about now, but a while back, they would throw the program into the deal, as well as teach you how to use it.

Good luck!

Working on a tourist visa is not a recommended way to stay out of trouble. The detention center has an abundance of punters who gave it a go.
