I have tried the rest ,now I find the best Pattaya Veterinary Clinic Pattaya Nakula Rd 038423410 dam_n cheap too compared to many.

I presume it is mange (possibly) tablets, powder or liquid Ivermectin does the trick,...used engine oil I have seen used with great effect too spread along the affected skin ( it kills the mites that cause mange). A Soi dog I was treating did not respond to a particular treatment asked this vet who directed me to pharmacy purchase,it had cracked skin all along its back, advised it was a fungus attack,60 Baht pills cleared it.

Na Jomtien animal hospital has a skin specialist but i think she's only there once or twice a month. They are located about 300 meters on the left before Macro if coming from Rayong...

JH

My dogs been treated by then for the last 10 weeks ...there just keep changing the antiboitic and hoping for the best......I need the bacterial skin infection analysing properly so they know which is the right antibotics to prescribed ......even considering sending a scape sample back to the UK for analysing

Did you try REVOLUTION.

It is suppose to clear mange in Dogs and Cats.

It is similar to Frontline.

It's not mange it's a bactarial skin infection ....no mites or yeasts found by 3 differant vets

The govt vet 3rd road by the fire station will sell a 100x injection bottle for about 380 baht, can buy it unbranded for 150 baht. Injecting is best but squirt it into some chicken or favourite food if difficult, just go to a pet store and ask for it in any form you like, dose the food up with it,usually 100 cc if liquid, but a give it perhaps 50% more,I have given it to dogs probably 3 times too much if a pack I'm feeding (the wrong dog snatches it first).

It clears heart worm ,tape worm round worm and a few other problems too. Give it for between 4 to 6 weeks, once a week. I would ring that number for the vet and ask her what she prescribed for fungus,it was broad spectrum so it will treat all.

Well that's a thing Name. The vet gave us 4 syringe's already loaded with the jollop. But going back on monday to have the little shit spade will ask then. By the sound of it your Vet is crap. You know what Thai's are like if you dont know dont ask as someone might be more knowledgeable, and make you look like a plank of wood. Loss of face and all that. Edited by fredob43

Banglay, You know what your dog's symptoms are much more than us. I just had a look on the internet and Pyoderma looked promising. Give it a go might be of some interest. Best of luck.

Yes! all the vets say it's Pyoderma... but there's different strains some more resistant than others to antibiotics I think it's a case of suck it and see..(The Thai vet way) that's why I'd like a proper skin bacteria analysis test so the right antibiotic can be prescribed ....

Think they will be using either Itrconazole 1 tab for 10 kg or 2 for 20 kg for fungi... or Cephalexine again same amount 10 and 20 kg for bacteria, make the dose a bit stronger if results lacking

Hi Banglay,

Did you manage to find a decent vet to help you out with your dog's bacteria skin problems?

It sounds as though our 2 year old black lab has a very similar problem that he picked up about 4 to 5 months back. All of the vets tell us it's a bacteria, not yeast or mange, but none of them have as yet have been able to give us anything in the way of a genuine cure. Some of the injections seem to do the trick for about a week than the poor little sod is back to scratching again.

He always ends up being prescribed what looks like a ridiculous amount of medicines and food supplements wherever we go, maybe it's the 'try everything – something should work' approach. Or maybe it's the 'pets owners are a soft touch so just sell them anything' approach. Or it's more than likely just mix of the two.

We are going to try yet another vet today, the highly recommended (elsewhere on these forums) Siam Country club animal hospital so fingers crossed we will find a cure in this new place.

The vet right next to the bus station on Pattaya Nua now has his own test equipment.

Just brought my dog there a few days ago and his bacterial outbreak is gone.

I am going there since I have dogs 11 years ago now and always been pleased.
