Buffet Breakfast Price Increases

Featured Replies

Of course I stayed there last month (mid-June ... yes this year/2011) and had breakfast most days at the Lek. It was 110 Baht. If it is any different now, it happened within the past month.

Odd, as the sign outside indicating the new price went up in May, as indicated in the first post in this thread. Apex have been charging that price since then, as far as I know.

To advertise a product at nearly 40% above its real price seems counterproductive to say the least.

Apparently the Lek has yo-yo'd the price if it was 150 Baht in May and is 150 Baht now in July because it was 110 Baht when I stayed there last month. At that time, June, they offered 10 coupons for 1000 baht so it will be interesting to me if that deal is on offer later this week when I am back.

I protein-load in the mornings and the Lek has been an inexpensive option since they offer a variety for whatever price is now charged, fish, chicken, eggs, etc. Last month they would hard boil as many eggs as you would like ... but you had to ask.

Would that have been a special price for residents?

I go past both places daily and would probably notice if the sign changed.

The sign inside the Apex has the books of 10 tickets for 1100 Baht, for a couple more months.

Possibly. I will check.

Does it really matter how much it has gone up? If it is too expensive for you go elsewhere or cook your own breakfast at home.

Stupid comment!

Not stupid, just the truth. I can't believe there is so much interest in a subject about breakfast going up by a WHOLE dollar +/-, the cheek of it - lol.

It's not just a dollar: it's 36%.

Imagine if all prices in Thailand went up by the same amount overnight. How many expats and tourists would be on the next plane out?

Tourism is a fragile and price-sensitive beast.

A few years ago the cost of a visa jumped from 500 ThB to 1.900 ThB

How many tourists and expats were on the next plane out ?

Can you please share with us how an expat stays in Thailand without a visa.

Probably by getting an extension to an existing visa.

FYI In Thailand the currency is Baht, not dollar.

Probably by getting an extension to an existing visa.

And those extensions are for free?

No, but they arent a new visa.

The original statement was perfectly correct: retired or married expats do not need to get a new visa every year. They can just get an extension.

Really, guess i should pay more attention. For your sake then 30 baht +/-, still pathetic regardless of currency!

JH

For your information it's gone up $3.00, or 90 Baht. Completely unaffordable for what you get.
