samd1885 Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Hi, This year I am moving to Thailand and I love turtles, I have always liked them and have owned several. I want to go to Chatachak market to buy a turtle however was wandering how much they cost equally how much tortiouses cost there. Are there many turtles there or just a few and where are they? If anyone knows any of the species sold there that are common then that could help too. Thanks,

nidge Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 If you buy the tiny little green turtles, don't expect them to live very long. I bought some and they all died within 2 months, since then i heard that most are sick when sold and die quickly. I also have a larger turtle, (about 8" long), and she has lived in my garden for about 6 months. I rescued her from some dogs that collected her from a temple after someone released her into the water. You should be able to buy a turtle like that from any temple that has a lake or khlong in it's grounds. Nidge.
