Airasia Tax Refund

Featured Replies

Hi there, if I cancelled my AirAsia flights, both sectors or just one sector can I get a refund of taxes/chargers ..if so how to do it...thanks

Believe Air Asia tickets are issued on a 'no refund' basis. But from experience they are happy to switch tickets to another flight and take an admin fee plus flight difference costs for doing so.

Yes can be done.

I did it recently for a ticket that I did not use.

The only bit I got back was the Govt Tax.

Go into your nearest Air Asia ticket office (I did mine at Udon Thani Airport)

Yes you can get the govt or departure tax refunded. If you paid you flight by credit card they will refund it into your credit card. They won't give you cash unless you paid for the ticket in cash.

Beware, I was in Phuket and the AA girl told me she had authorised the refund. A month later it still wasn't refunded. I contacted AA by email and no response. Somehow, I can't recall how I got a phone number, I called them and the guy told me he could give me a credit to use on my next flight. I stupidly agreed.

A couple of weeks later the credit showed in my AA membership account. About a month later I was looking at more flights and the credit was gone.

I submitted some refund form on airasia website and within a month I got the 700 B tax refunded via used CC from a missed BKK-PHN flight.

There is a fast way contacting AA. I will be canceling my flight too. But the tax refund is just a few dollar, good enough for a few bottles of beer. Post a message in AA Facebook wall, they will reply you in a short while.

It is relatively easy to get a tax refund from Air Asia. There is a processing fee; you would need to check whether the fee is less than the tax that you would get as a refund.

From the Air Asia webpage:

"Guests can request for an airport tax refund. The refund may only be made after the date of Departure. For assistance, please fill up our e-form here (http://www.airasia.com/my/en/faqdetailsform.html). This request will then be forwarded to the relevant department for processing. Please note that this process may take up to 30 working days and will be credited to the original mode of payment for the booking. In the event there is more than 1 guest in the confirmed booking, the refund will be made to the person who made the purchase. No refunds will be made to third parties.

To ensure a smooth refund process, please provide the following details:

( a ) If payment is made by credit card:

1. The Reservation/ Booking Reference Number

( b ) If payment is made by Direct Debit or Cash or Travel Agent:

1. The Reservation/ Booking Reference Number

2. Bank Account Number

3. Bank Name

4. Name of Account Holder

Please be informed that guests will be charged a processing fee for refund of airport tax, as displayed in the Fee Schedule (http://www.airasia.com/my/en/flightinfo/feeschedule.html). "

I recently requested a refund for three flights and apart from it taking some time for the refund to arrive in my credit card account it was a simple process. At the time I requested the refunds they did not use the web form and I just emailed the request to [email protected] including my booking reference number.

on airasia facebook theres many discussions about airport tax refunds.

  • 4 months later...

Having read the posts it seems that you cannot get the FUEL SURCHARGE back even though you did not fly?

I got my refund by 'phoning them and they automatically processed the refund to my CC.
