SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH (BNO NEWS) -- Officials have identified the four fatal victims of Wednesday's small plane crash in the state of Utah, local media reported Thursday.

The accident occurred on Wednesday at around 2:45 p.m. local time, when a single-engine Cessna Skyhawk 172 went down some 400 feet short of the Wendover Airport runway, which is located in Utah's northwestern Tooele County on the Nevada border, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.

Victims of the crash included three Utah natives, the pilot, Lincoln Marshal Dastrup, 57, of Salt Lake City; Justin Michael Yates, 37, of Lehi; Chad A. Wade, 38, of South Jordan; and one person from India, Harish Parashar, 53, a medical doctor.

According to witnesses, the plane was having trouble in its attempt to land, forcing it to circle around the runway for a second time when it crashed.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have launched investigations into the cause of the accident.
